This study aims at investigating the PhD and MA theses in psychology at Khartoum University from 1980 to 2002. The aspects investigated are subjects, tools, methods and references used. The analysis includes 220 MA and 40 PhD theses classified according to different fields of psychology: general psychology, psychometrics, educational and clinical psychology. Despite its importance, the fields of military and forensic psychology are neglected. With respect to subjects, attitudes is the most researched subject. Most of theses depend on observation and tests in collecting data, and the interview and observation are rarely used. Unlike the experimental methods. Unlike the experimental methods descriptive method is mainly used. Similarity the statistical method is used more than the case study and psychoanalysis methods. One of the criticisms directed to these theses is that they mainly depend on secondary references not on original ones like Ibnsina, Almarwardy, Freud, Watson, Skinner, Pavlov, Roger, Maslow and others. The study appreciated the contributions provided by these theses and recommended to avail their usefulness.
